SIA EIPU has started construction of a drinking water export terminal in Liepaja. According to the development plans of the city and the Liepaja Special Economic Zone, it is a development area where a completely new, environmentally and human-friendly terminal going to be built, which plans to export drinking water. The terminal will not cause any pollution, noise or odou, and the residents of the neighborhood will get a new, well maintained road to access the beach, which has always been a popular place for recreation.

The site of the proposed terminal has previously been leased for construction of a multifunctional cargo terminal and later on – for construction of a container terminal.

Unfortunately, the previous projects have not been implemented due to various reasons. Back in 2020, SIA EIPU entered into a land lease reservation agreement for the construction site and carried out a thorough research, developed a construction project and made all the necessary approvals. On January 10 of this year, the Board of Liepaja SEZ decided to enter into a long-term agreement on granting building permit for the company to implement the project “Water Filling Terminal” and to perform its construction, management and commercial activities in 2023 and creating 10 new jobs.
