In the first half of 2022, 3,880,090.05 tons of various cargoes were handled in the Port of Liepaja port, which is by far the largest half-yearly cargo turnover in the history of the Port.

 

The main cargo groups are cereal products, RO-RO cargo, construction materials, wood chips, wood pellets, timber, etc. This is by 15.2% more than a year ago. During the reporting period, 847 vessels were handled, 43,235 ro-ro units and 9,572 containers were transhipped, while 36,429 passengers entered and departed.

 

In the first half of 2022, the stevedoring companies of the Port of Liepaja have been working with stability, increasing their cargo turnover and successfully using their great experience and ability to adapt to the geopolitical situation, the market situation, and actively cooperating with the Liepaja SEZ Authority to attract new cargoes. The significant financial investments made in recent years in the development of the infrastructure of the Port of Liepaja, in accordance with the needs of entrepreneurs, are also of great importanceand is one of the most important conditions for a stable flow of cargo turnover.

 

Among the stevedoring companies of the Port, SIA LSEZ "Liepaja Bulk terminal" handled the largest cargo turnover in the first half of the year - 1,232,263.38 t, which is by 34.5% more than a year earlier in the six months.

 

The second largest cargo turnover in the first half of 2022 was SIA LSEZ "Terrabalt" - 909,841.92 tons, which is by 26% more than a year earlier, followed by SIA LSEZ "Ekers Stividors LP" - 899,347.84 t, which is by 5.2% more than in the first half of 2021.
