As a result of efficiently promoting the City of Liepaja as an attractive new cruise ship destination, on July 19, the “Balmoral” cruise ship with 667 British, Japanese, Australian and passengers from other countries on board called the Port of Liepaja and was moored alongside the berth of the stevedoring company LSEZ SIA Ekers Stividors LP. It is already the third cruise ship visiting the City of Liepaja this year.
Mr. Valentin Giuglea, Master of the ship, the “Balmoral” vessel was built 30 years ago in Germany, further on being well maintained and recently renewed. In total, the ship has 11 decks, providing a wide range of leisure activities for the passengers.
Most of the passengers took advantage of the wide range of on-shore excursions and the opportunity to get to know the City of Liepaja on a leisurely walk. The passengers were also offered an opportunity to get to know the cultural and historical heritage of the region and to visit the rural area of Rucava by tourist bus. Excursions, and entertainment program for the passengers in Liepaja were taken care of by the tourist agencies "Latvia Tours" and "JATravel" and the Liepaja Region Tourist Information Office.
During the current cruise tour, the ship will call at 7 more cities in other countries, whereof the next one will be the Island of Saaremaa in Estonia.
The visit of the next cruise ship - "Seven Seas Splendor" to the Port of Liepaja is expected on July 21.
