Liepaja has always been an industrial city and has always respected cultural and historical values, which have now manifested in the newly built production facility of SIA “EB Liepaja”, which was commissioned by the Liepaja City Construction Board on 29 November, this year.
The office and production building of the company, with the total space of 4,802.4 m2, in the Karosta Industrial Park (former Russian Tsar Alexander III naval port territory) is already the fourth production facility recently built in the said Industrial Park, however the first one to preserve integrated and renovated more than one hundred years old historical buildings.
The architect Gundars Vīksna integrated the historical buildings into the design of the new production facility, which was further implemented by the construction sub-contractor SIA firm UPTK.
As stated by Māris Pētersons, SIA "EB Liepaja" Board Member, it was important for the company to preserve historical artifacts of the Karosta area and to combine them with today’s standard production facility shapes.
The construction of new manufacturing facilities in the former naval port area became available and attractive to investors in 2015, when the Liepaja city municipality, in cooperation with the Liepaja SEZ Authority had completed development of the territory of 20 ha for business needs.
