The Port of Liepaja's geographical location is a prerequisite for its successful development and its advantages. The territory of the Port of Liepaja is surrounded by residential, public and industrial buildings. Faced with the trend of increasing cargo turnover, the question of the interaction between the port activities and the functioning of the city's public transport system is becoming more and more acute, as the transportation of cargo to and from the port area affects the movement of people and vehicles using the city's public transport infrastructure.
The aim of the project "Development of the land access roads of the Port of Liepaja" is to eliminate the constraints caused by the bottlenecks in the functioning of the European transport network infrastructure by implementing measures for the development of the land access roads of the Port of Liepaja.
The following activities will be implemented within the project:
Construction of a railway access road to the Port of Liepaja;
Reconstruction of the port road access road.
The project will reduce the proportion of port access roads in poor and very poor condition. The improved access road infrastructure will in turn reduce time and vehicle operating costs for transport operators.
Project No 6.1.1.0/17/I/002 "Development of land access roads to the Port of Liepaja" is implemented within the framework of the Operational Programme "Growth and Employment" under the Specific Support Objective 6.1.1 "To increase the level of security of large ports and to improve the mobility of the transport network".
