On August 27, 2024, the Port of Liepaja Regulations entered into force in a new version.

The Liepaja SEZ Authority is continuing to implement construction of the infrastructure for fishermen in the Port of Liepaja – installing the lighting, rainwater drainage networks and overall improvements of the territory - and has announced elaboration of an explanatory note and author supervision for the said object – resulting in the construction of an access road to the fish unloading spot at Berths 92A and 92B.

Next month, based on the long-term site development plan, the first reconstruction works at the former bankrupt steel plant “Liepajas Metalurgs” will start to transform it into an environmentally friendly circular economy oriented industrial plant.

In order to address the opening of the currently closed city canal embankment to public and to create prerequisites for the development of balanced residential and public buildings, a local plan for the part of Jaunliepāja has been developed. From July 29 to September 6, 2024, the plan has been submitted for public consultation to receive opinions of the community and those of competent of institutions.

SEB banka has granted 2 million euros to the Liepaja Special Economic Zone joint stock company ''Norplast Piemare'' to finance construction of a new 2000 m2 large production plant in the Port of Liepaja, which will deal with manufacturing of oversized composite products for fish-farming and oil-producing industry for further export to Norway.

On July 22, LSEZ SIA Dan Store grain terminal accepted the first wheat load grown and threshed in Latvia as an affirmation that the new cereal season has begun.
