In the evening of March 4, an initial public meeting on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed “NorSAF” sustainable aviation fuel production project took place, featuring extensive explanations and discussions.

The first two investment agreements of this year have been concluded with the Liepaja Special Economic Zone companies for a total amount of EUR 2,078,514.00.

The 2026 budget of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority has been prepared in a conservative and balanced manner, ensuring the fulfilment of core functions while continuing to implement development-oriented investment projects in the port and industrial areas.

As a multifunctional port, the Port of Liepaja has maintained a stable cargo turnover over the past ten years, averaging around 7 million tons annually.

Members of the Saeima (Parliament of the Republic of Latvia) from the United List (AS/Apvienotais Saraksts) and the National Alliance (NA/Nacionālā Apvienība) have submitted amendments to the Law on the Application of Taxes in Free Ports and Special Economic Zones and to the Law on the Liepaja Special Economic Zone to extend the regulatory framework of the Liepaja SEZ until 31 December 2050.

With the onset of construction-friendly weather conditions, the Liepaja SEZ Authority will begin construction of an access road to Berth No. 92 at the Port of Liepaja.
