2017.-2020.
Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority participates in the Estonia-Latvia cross-border project as one of the cooperation partners. The project will modernise the Liepaja marina. The following information applies to the project and all partners involved in it as a whole.

Project objective:
To establish a network of small ports with quality services on the Eastern Baltic Sea Coast and the Gulf of Riga in Estonia and Latvia and to promote it as an attractive destination
Project funding:
EUR 10 981 270.62 (including European Regional Development Fund EUR 9 334 079.99)
Target group
Local and foreign sailors, yacht owners, yacht clubs, sailing schools who will benefit from improved services and a wider harbour network;
Local authorities contributing to the development of infrastructure for sailing, tourism and business promotion activities along the coast;
Activities included in the project
I Investments in port infrastructure and service development
1) Improving navigational safety: marking port entrances and water areas with appropriate navigation signs (guidelines, buoys, smart buoys, navigation signs).
2) Wave protection: reinforcement of the shoreline, construction of new quays and reconstruction of existing ones.
3) Dredging in ports to ensure a minimum depth of 2.5 m for fairways.
4) Creation of new berths: floating berths, moorings.
5) Investments for environmental protection: waste and waste water collection facilities.
6) Security improvements in port areas (fences, video surveillance systems, etc.), development of emergency evacuation plans, fire safety equipment on quays, creation of equipped rescue stands.
7) Better services for sailors: availability of electricity and drinking water on the quays, construction or reconstruction of service buildings with sanitary facilities, saunas, etc., lighting in the harbour area and on the quayside.
8) Establishment of tourist information points (stands, Wi-Fi access, information platform on the network of ports on the coast, their services and tourist information.
9) Extension of services: purchase of cranes, etc. for yacht lifting, creation of yacht berths (outdoor/indoor).
