Liepāja Special Economic Zone Authority completes elaboration of technical design “Reconstruction of Liepāja Port Pier No. 46”
The objective of the project “Providing of safe berthing of Ro-Ro ferries in the port of Liepaja” (hereinafter in the text: Project) is to provide safe berthing of Ro-Ro ferries in the port of Liepaja, thus, strengthening TEN – T infrastructure’s capacity and enhancing internal and external markets accessibility through improved maritime transport links.
On September 20, 2024, the Liepāja Special Economic Zone Authority concluded with company “CHR Design Solutions” a contract for the elaboration of the technical design “Reconstruction of Liepāja Port Pier No. 46”. On August 20, 2025, the Liepāja City Construction Board made a note on the fulfilment of the design conditions in the building permit No. BIS-BV-4.2-2025-18 (7/2025) of January 21, 2025, thus confirming the successful completion of the the elaboration of the technical design “Reconstruction of Liepāja Port Pier No. 46”.
The implementation of the Project includes the installation of additional mooring piles, reconstruction of the pier structures and increasing the water depth from 10.5 to 12.0 m and will ensure safe servicing of RO – RO / RO – PAX ferries with a maximum length of up to 240.0 meters and a draft of up to 11.0 meters.
The total cost of project implementation is 23,090,050 EUR.
Project “Providing of safe berthing of Ro-Ro ferries in the port of Liepaja” (project acronym 22-LV-TG-LPXRORO) is partly financed under the CEF2027 program (topic ID – CEF-T-2022-COMPGEN-MARP-WORKS, project No. 101122785). Connecting Europe Facility contribution covers 30% of Project’s eligible costs and is 6,927,015 EUR.
