Having succeed in attracting co-funding from the Central Finance and Contracts Agency, SIA "ICS Steel" company has built and commissioned a new metalwork production facility of 3200m2 in the territory of the Liepaja special economic zone. About 2.5 million euros were invested in the construction of the factory and a half million euros were invested in the production equipment and machinery. To ensure a full range of services, the owners plan to build two more production buildings in the coming years.

The Liepaja SEZ Authority concluded an agreement with the Central Finance and Contracts Agency (CFCA) on financing of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism in the amount of 10 million EUR for the implementation of the project "Liepaja Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Round 1". As part of the project, it is planned to build electricity supply networks and three sections of streets with engineering communications (water supply, domestic sewerage, rainwater sewerage, heat supply networks) in the large area. This will allow partial opening of the formerly closed steel plant area for public access and create an opportunity to attract the first investors.

The Liepāja SEZ Authority has implemented the project "Remediation of the Historically Polluted Site at the Liepaja Port Karosta Canal" with the aim of reducing the negative impact of the historically polluted sediments of the Karosta Canal on the environment, human health, and the ecological state of the Baltic Sea. The project is financed within the framework of the Norwegian Financial Instrument 2014-2021 programme "Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation and the Environment" and a total of 145,199 cubic meters of historically polluted sediments containing approximately 298 tons of hazardous chemicals were removed within the framework of the III round of the Karosta Canal rehabilitation project.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by "Fokker Next Gen N.V." the Chief Executive Officer Juriaan Kellermann and the Liepaja SEZ CEO Uldis Hmieļevskis with the intention of setting forth the research in order to build a production plant in the territory of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone, in the immediate vicinity of the Liepaja International Airport, which would provide "Fokker Next Gen N.V." assembly and testing of the new generation hydrogen-powered aircraft. "Fokker Next Gen N.V." also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia and the Riga Technical University.
