A new protein production factory in the Karosta Industrial Park

On June 19, the "Golden Field Factory LV" company protein production facility, was solemnly opened in the Karosta Industrial Park. With the establishment of the "Golden Field Factory LV" production facility, the agri-food staff industry has returned to Liepaja and the first ever investments from the United Arab Emirates and the United States have arrived in Liepaja in the amount of 16 million euros.

The new production facility provides more than 50 new jobs. The company plans to produce protein and starch from local and imported peas and beans for further use in the food industry. The company plans not only to produce protein, but also to create the first protein research center in Europe.
“It is already the fourth production plant in the Karosta Industrial Park, the twenty-fourth in Liepaja in the last seven years, however, that of ”Golden Field Factory LV" is for sure special, as first – the agricultural products i.e. beans and peas - will be processed here to produce high added value protein. Second - this is the first production plant in which the historical construction of the Karosta (former military site) has been successfully preserved and integrated into the newly built facility" emphasized Liepaja SEZ CEO Uldis Hmieļevskis.

It was the local architect Gundars Vīksna who integrated two existing historical (more than one hundred years old) buildings in the construction design of the new production facility allowing a complete renaissance of one of the historical buildings and complete renovation of the façade of the other old building.

For reference:
The idea of establishing the Karosta Industrial Park was initiated in 1999. Provision of the spacious territory of 20 hectares with the required infrastructure and communications for business needs was completed in 2015, and the Park now hosts four industrial companies providing more than five hundred jobs.
