Blue Flag Raised at Liepaja Marina for the 18th Consecutive Year
For the 18th consecutive year, the Blue Flag has been raised at Liepaja Marina, marking its continued commitment to meeting the highest international environmental and quality standards. It remains the only marina in Latvia to have consistently fulfilled all the criteria required to receive this prestigious eco-certification.
This year, the Blue Flag was ceremonially raised on May 26th. The event was led by Liepaja Marina Manager Kārlis Kints and former Prime Minister of Latvia and current Member of Parliament Māris Kučinskis.
As noted by Mr. Kints during the ceremony, Liepaja has become an increasingly favored destination among sailors, largely due to the modern and conveniently located marina complex situated in the heart of the city. Returning yachts are becoming more frequent, with visiting sailors particularly appreciating the urban development and the improved amenities introduced with the opening of the new marina facility in 2020.
In 2023, the Liepaja Marina welcomed 228 yachts, and by 2024, that number has already increased to 243 yachts and sailing vessels—highlighting the port’s growing popularity in the Baltic sailing community.
