Commencement of infrastructure development at the Liepaja Industrial Park
Next month, based on the long-term site development plan, the first reconstruction works at the former bankrupt steel plant “Liepajas Metalurgs” will start to transform it into an environmentally friendly circular economy oriented industrial plant. Construction of the selected sections of new streets and that of a new power grid are supposed to be completed by December 31, 2025, resulting in partial opening of the formerly closed territory for public access and providing an opportunity to attract businesses to the large project site of about 200 hectares.
Based on the procurement results, two construction project phases will be implemented by SIA "A-Land" company (project amount of EUR 1.6 million and EUR 1.85 million, accordingly), whereas SIA “CTB” company will be in charge of implementing the third project phase (project amount EUR 2.8 million). At all street sections both companies will provide engineering communications, whereas construction of the electrical power supply networks will be carried out by AS "Sadales tīkls" – a company, providing sustainable and economically viable electricity distribution service by efficiently managing the electrical network, improving the safety and quality of power supply, which is essential for the competitiveness and growth of the national economy.
The project "Infrastructure Development of the Liepaja Industrial Park, Phase 1" is being implemented by using the funding of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism in the amount of 10 million euros.
By implementing the entire project intent of the Liepaja Industrial Park, according to the approved strategy, it is planned to attract private investments of more than 275 million euros and to create at least 1,500 new jobs.
