Prime Minister: Liepaja has set itself on a steady development path
During her working visit to Liepaja on 5 April, Evika Siliņa, the Prime Minister of Latvia highly appreciated the city’s achievements, recognizing that Liepaja has set itself on a steady development path, which needs to be continued by supporting investor projects, eliminating red tape, which squashes initiative, strengthening competitive education, and last but not least - supporting the plans of the National Armed Forces (NBS) to develop their military
facilities the Port of Liepaja.
She also admitted, that being a highly reputed center of culture and tourism and preparing to become the European Capital of Culture in 2027, the city has also grown into a major industrial center with a number of new local and foreign manufacturing companies coming to Liepaja to build their facilities and to run their business in the city. Thus, it is of utmost importance to further develop business infrastructure in the city. It is equally important to provide education and training to meet the needs of industry. In this respect the recent merging of the University of Liepaja with the Riga Technical University will definitely
strengthen the engineering field in the region and provide students with quality education and the business companies with highly qualified employees.
The Prime Minister visited the SIA AE Partner company - manufacturer of high-quality automation systems with design and production of electrical panels; the newly built drinking water export terminal of SIA Eipu company; the SIA Global Wolf Motors company - manufacturer of military scooters “Mosphera” - a type of high-end scooter that is designed for use in various industries, such as agriculture, airports, military, ports, vineyards, police and border controls.
