The Liepaja SEZ Authority participates in the largest wind energy industry exhibition and seminar in Europe
Together with the Latvian Minister for Climate and Energy Kaspars Melnis and the management of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA), the Liepaja SEZ CEO Uldis Hmieļevskis and his Advisor on Renewable Energy Projects Jānis Lapiņš attended a three-day conference and exhibition "WindEurope Annual event 2025", in Copenhagen, Denmark at the Bella Center to meet with investors, the wind energy project developers, manufacturers and also the current Liepaja SEZ project partners VanOord and Euroports with whom the Liepaja SEZ Authority continues to develop the project, which was initiated three years ago, i.e. building an offshore wind farm support base and a heavy-lift cargo terminal in the Port of Liepaja.
This year the conference and the exhibition gathered more than 15 000 visitors and 500 companies on the exhibition floor to showcase all the innovations in the wind energy market, both inside and outside Europe. The annual WindEurope event is an excellent opportunity for prominent figures from politics, business and industry linked to energy and climate action to express their views and to debate on various wind and climate industry related issues.
Denmark is the birthplace of wind energy, and the Danes are still breaking new wind power records right across the board. They are the only country in Europe to source more than half of their electricity from wind – up to 55%.
