Construction of the Liepaja Industrial Park Continues

From April 8 to April 14, traffic on Brīvības Street toward the city center will be reduced to a single lane due to construction works within the project “Construction of Street Infrastructure in the Territory of the Former “Liepajas Metalurgs” plant – Phase 1.”

Following the winter technological break, active construction of streets and engineering utilities have resumed in developing the Liepaja Industrial Park.

Work continues the construction of a section of Čuguna Street and a signal-controlled intersection, which will serve as a new access point from Brīvības Street, including all necessary infrastructure and landscaping over a length of 120 meters.

Construction has also begun on the extension of Martena Street (400 m).

A construction project has been developed, and a procurement process has been announced for works to dismantle the fuel oil storage facility, clean up the contaminated area, and build a 400-meter connection of Eksporta Street.

The Liepaja Industrial Park is being developed by the Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority and the Municipality of Liepaja on the site of the former “Liepajas Metalurgs” plant. It borders Lake Liepaja, which is a specially protected NATURA 2000 nature area.

According to the approved development strategy, it is planned to attract more than EUR 275 million in private investment and create at least 1,500 new jobs.
