Decisions taken by the Liepaja SEZ Board on March 18

On March 18, 2024, the regular Liepaja SEZ Board Meeting was held with the following agenda:

Granting the status of the Liepaja SEZ company to SIA “AE Partner”
One of the main criteria for the Liepaja SEZ Board to grant the status of the Liepaja SEZ company and hence, the tax incentives provided for by the Law is the commitment of the relevant company to make investments or to implement investment projects. SIA “AE Partner” - a Danish owned company, manufacturer of high-quality automation systems, designer, and manufacturer of electrical panels - running its business in Liepaja since 2003, is planning to increase its production volumes and provide even more jobs after implementing their investment project "Construction of a New Manufacturing and Administrative Building at Ganību street 1/3, Liepaja". Based on the aforementioned, the Liepaja SEZ Board decided to grant SIA “AE partner” the status of the Liepaja SEZ company and to conclude an investment agreement with the implementation timeframe from April 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025.

On implementation of investment projects
The Liepaja SEZ board reviewed and supported two more investment projects of the Liepaja SEZ companies for the total amount of EUR 440,241.55:

• 
  the Liepaja SEZ company “PUMAC LIEPAJA” is planning to implement an investment project "Territory Improvement and the Tenant Parking Lot Construction" in the period from April 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024 for the total amount of EUR 156,166.00.
• the Liepaja SEZ company “VOBP Business Park” has taken a decision to implement an investment project "Consolidation and Adjustment of Manufacturing Facilities to Meet the Tenant’s Needs” in the period from March 25, 2024 to December 31, 2024 for the total amount of EUR 251,093.78.

In 2023, the Liepaja SEZ Authority concluded 15 investment agreements with the Liepaja SEZ companies, the total planned investment amount of which is EUR 5,481,903.28, whereas in 2024, the Liepaja SEZ Board supported and concluded three investment projects for the total amount of EUR 4,129 EUR 605.00.

On the nautical depth maintenance
In order to ensure safe navigation in the Port of Liepaja, the Liepaja SEZ reviewed and approved the fairway maintenance plans for 2024 and decided to enter into an agreement with UAB "Green Line Shipping" for the maintenance works of the fairway and the nautical depth of the Port of Liepaja. UAB “Green Line Shipping” was selected as a result of the procurement procedure and submitted the economically most advantageous offer with the lowest price.

On membership in the association “WindEurope”
Since 2022, the Liepaja SEZ Authority has been focusing on establishing a major center for the renewable energy industry in the Port of Liepaja. According to the Liepaja SEZ Development Plan, as well as the Territorial Planning of the City of Liepaja, the Outer Harbor of the Port of Liepaja has been selected as a territory for building an offshore windfarm support base and oversized cargo terminals. WindEurope - an association promoting the use of wind power in Europe. Based in Brussels it has over 500 members, which are active in over 50 countries, including manufacturers with a leading share of the world wind power market, component suppliers, research institutes, national wind and renewables associations, developers, contractors, electricity providers, finance companies, insurance companies, and consultants. Hence, the Liepaja SEZ Board decided to join the WindEurope organization, to create prerequisites for the development of a completely new type of industry in Liepaja and the region.
