New production plant of the Swedish company was solemnly opened at the VOBP

Today, on May 14, the new production plant of the Swedish company “Care of Sweden” was solemnly opened at the VOBP Business Park in Liepaja. The company has built a strong team of employees to manufacture hospital bed mattresses. The total investment amounts to 2 million euros.

The Swedish company “Care of Sweden” has been engaged in the production of hospital bed mattresses for twenty-five years. In order for the production plant to be closer to the raw material manufacturers and suppliers, a decision was announced to build a production plant in the Baltic States, and after in-depth research, the City of Liepaja – in particular – the VOBP Business Park - was chosen as a proper location. Thus, in the spring of 2023, “Care of Sweden” established its subsidiary company in Latvia and signed a contract for the lease of 3,000 square meters of the premises built within less than a year by the VOBP Business Park for the needs of the company.

The VOBP Business Park is located in the territory of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone, close to the city center, hosting more than 20 Latvian and foreign tenant companies. The “Care of Sweden” management decision to build a production plant in Liepaja affirms the quality of business environment in Latvia which has been promoted by joint effort of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, the Liepaja City Council, and the Liepaja SEZ Authority.

Care of Sweden is an innovative company in the medtech sector, devoted to the cause of eliminating pressure ulcers around the world. The turnover of the company in 2023 reached 21 million euros and it exports its products to about 35 countries of the world. The biggest export market is Australia.
