The Liepaja SEZ Authority continues to develop the Liepaja Sustainable Industry Hub
The European Hydrogen Week in Brussels has ended. The Liepaja SEZ CEO Uldis Hmieļevskis participated in the event, to discuss the development projects planned in the Liepaja SEZ territory with cooperation partners, related to the use of renewable resources in hydrogen production and its further use in CO2 processing, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and, in the future - creation of a hydrogen-powered aircraft production plant. The aforementioned projects taken together will further on be referred to as the Liepaja Sustainable Industry Hub.
On November 20, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), in cooperation with the Embassy of Latvia in Brussels and the Baltic hydrogen industry organizations, held a reception in Brussels, bringing together friends and allies of the Baltic hydrogen community and the Baltic hydrogen associations.
The reception was addressed by the Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Latvia to the EU Mārtiņš Kreitus, the Director of the Latvian Hydrogen Association and Board Member of Hydrogen Europe Aivars Starikovs, as well as the Head of the Latvian Innovation and Technology Representation in Brussels Egita Aizsilniece-Ibema.
The four days of the conference and exhibition were spent in discussions and networking events. The European Hydrogen Week was attended by more than 220 exhibitors, who demonstrated their revolutionary technologies, national and regional ambitions and market-ready products.
Key conclusions:
• ensure a better connection between hydrogen and the energy sector;
• connect stakeholders across all value chains;
• develop the necessary infrastructure and provide adequate financial support to assets that can ensure grid flexibility.
As stated in the official announcement of the European Hydrogen Week, the event brought together all stakeholders in the European hydrogen industry and facilitated knowledge exchange and business development planning.
