We continue to work to develop a strong and sustainable industry in Liepāja
This week, Jānis Lapiņš, Advisor to the Liepaja SEZ CEO on Renewable Energy Issues,
participated in the world’s leading wind industry trade fair “WindEnergy Hamburg 2024", which is wholly tailored toward addressing the major issues, facing the international wind energy sector. The event brought together more than a thousand high-caliber, professional audience and exhibitors demonstrating their innovations and solutions from across the entire value chain of the industry.
On five stages that were freely accessible to all participants, more than 300 speakers provided fascinating insights into the future of wind energy. In over 220 sessions and at numerous other networking opportunities, experts from politics, business and science explored global trends, presented new technologies, and discussed the role of wind power in the fight against climate change.
The purpose of such participation by the Liepaja SEZ Authority was to be part of the networking platform for current developments and also to accelerate development of the recently initiated sustainable and renewable energy projects in the industrial and port areas of the Liepaja SEZ.
As part of the event, a number of business negotiations were held with the entrepreneurs from the off-shore wind energy sector, which have already decided on doing business in Liepaja and currently elaborating their final investment decisions by addressing various environmental, administrative, technical, financial and many other issues.
The Liepaja SEZ Authority has been working hard for a long time together with project developers, investors, municipal and governmental institutions on sustainable industrial development in Liepaja – an offshore wind support base, green hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel production and other, which complement each other and also give impetus to the development of education and science.
