A versatile vessel, “Līva,” joins the Liepaja Port fleet

The Liepaja Port fleet has been expanded with the multifunctional vessel “Līva,” which the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority is leasing from LVR Flote, a subsidiary of the Freeport of Riga Authority. LVR Flote was the only company to submit a bid in the procurement process.

On the morning of 12 August, the vessel arrived at the Port of Liepaja and will henceforth help the Liepaja Port Harbour Master’s Office carry out essential functions, including hydrographic surveys and the maintenance and replacement of navigational aids.

The “Līva” can carry two medium-sized buoy sets (buoy, anchor and chain). The vessel is equipped with an auxiliary crane and is suitable for operations at sea.

Thanks to its ice class, the vessel is also capable of breaking ice in the inner harbor basin.

The Liepaja SEZ Authority is leasing the vessel only; it will be operated by employees of the Harbour Master’s Office.
