Celebrate Sea Festival on the Water with the Seafarers' Rowing Race and the Ship & Boat Parade

For the eighth year in a row, the Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority invites everyone to kick off the Sea Festival by taking part in the event "Across the City – From the Lake to the Sea", which will take place on 10 July in the Trade Canal by the Liepaja Yacht Harbour.

The event will be held with the Seafarers' Rowing Race at 4:00 p.m. From 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., participants will gather for the parade, and at 8:00 p.m., accompanied by the sound of ship horns, the parade will be officially led by the tugboats of the Port of Liepaja.

From 4:00 p.m., spectators will also have access to the promenade on the Jaunliepaja side of the Canal.

The event "Across the City - From the Lake to the Sea" will begin with the Seafarers' Rowing Race. This year introduces a new feature: to encourage those who may not consider themselves experienced seafarers or regular rowers, a Hobby Class will be offered, featuring a shorter and easier course. At the same time, experienced rowing teams are warmly welcome to compete in the main race.

Each team must consist of 7 participants:

• 6 rowers
• 1 coxswain (or rhythm caller)

• Sea-going vessels - alongside the Customs House in the Trade Canal.
• Lake boats - in the Canal between the bridges.

The Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority invites everyone to take an active part in the rowing race and the Ship & Boat Parade, as well as to enjoy the event as spectators.

This year, as in previous years, the waterfront along the New Promenade will be opened to visitors for the duration of the event. In the future, this area is planned to become a permanent public waterfront, like the Old Promenade, where the port, shipping operations, and commercial activity successfully coexist with residents and visitors.
