Due to changes in the amount of available EU Structural Funds financing, the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority has decided to terminate the previously announced procurement procedure for the reconstruction of Port Berth No. 46 to prepare updated technical specifications and launch a new procurement procedure this week.

On May 11 in London, Advisor to the CEO of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone on renewable energy projects, Jānis Lapiņš, together with companies involved in the Liepaja Sustainable Industry Hub initiative, presented the management of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with the planned projects in Liepaja.

For the second year in a row, the Liepaja SEZ Authority is participating in the evaluation of the national final of Latvia’s best student companies and presents its own Choice Award in both the basic and secondary school groups.

On April 22 of this year, a regular meeting of the Board of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) was held, during which 11 decisions were adopted - regarding investments in business development totaling EUR 1.25 million, commercial activities within the Liepaja SEZ territory, as well as amendments and clarifications to agreements.

“It is clear that Liepaja’s industrial ambitions embody the spirit of Latvia,” stated the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia Melissa Argyros, who on April 16 familiarized herself with the operations of the Port of Liepaja and the Special Economic Zone. The Liepaja SEZ CEO Uldis Hmieļevskis introduced the Ambassador to the planned green energy and industrial projects, which are unified within the Liepaja Sustainable Industry Hub and complement one another.
