The Liepaja Port fleet has been expanded with the multifunctional vessel “Līva,” which the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority is leasing from LVR Flote, a subsidiary of the Freeport of Riga Authority. LVR Flote was the only company to submit a bid in the procurement process.

As an initial step, the Liepaja SEZ Authority consolidated all properties located within the former Liepajas Metalurgs site, worked together with the municipality to develop a local spatial plan, and began construction of roads and engineering infrastructure. Auctions for the sale of properties are the next step in engaging businesses in the regeneration and transformation of the industrial area, offering them the opportunity to acquire existing manufacturing facilities and renovate or redevelop them to meet the needs of a modern, green-economy business environment.

The Liepaja Lighthouse will soon open its doors to visitors in a new form, becoming a unique cultural and tourism destination where modern technologies will bring the story of the Port of Liepaja to life. The new multimedia exhibition will take visitors on a journey through the development of the port, from its origins to the present day.

On 15 July this year, the regular meeting of the Board of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (Liepaja SEZ) was held. During the meeting, the Board approved the 2025 Annual Report of the Liepaja SEZ Authority and adopted decisions regarding the waiver of pre-emption rights, the conclusion of a new ship agency services agreement, and the award of several procurement contracts.

For the eighth year in a row, the Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority invites everyone to kick off the Sea Festival by taking part in the event "Across the City – From the Lake to the Sea", which will take place on 10 July in the Trade Canal by the Liepaja Yacht Harbour.

To identify new cooperation partners, innovative solutions, and development opportunities, Deputy CEO of the Liepaja SEZ Authority, Elans Strazdiņš, and Head of the Business and Development Department, Raivo Špaks, participated in one of the world's leading exhibitions for project cargo, bulk cargo, and oversized freight logistics - Breakbulk Europe 2026, held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from 16 to 18 June.
