On June 25, a ship of an innovative design under the name WAALVLIET arrived at the Port of Liepaja. WAALVLIET (IMO 9996874) is a Dry bulk/Mini bulker built in 2025 and is sailing under the Dutch flag. She has an overall length (LOA) of 88 meters and a width (beam) of 13 meters. Her summer deadweight capacity is 3,800 tons.

Here is a new Clarification Regarding the Published Announcement on the Written Auction for the Lease Rights of the Real Estate (Wastewater Treatment Plant) Under the Management of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority: Amendments have been made to the draft lease agreement for the lease rights of the wastewater treatment plant at the Port of Liepaja in the following Sections: 2.2.20; 4.8; 4.8.4; 4.8.6; 4.8.7; 4.8.8; and 4.8.9.

For the 18th consecutive year, the Blue Flag has been raised at Liepaja Marina, marking its continued commitment to meeting the highest international environmental and quality standards.

During the “Made in Liepaja” exhibition earlier this year, the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority invited local residents to take part in a historic initiative – to propose names for eight new streets currently under construction within the former site of the former “Liepajas metalurgs” steel plant, which is being transformed into an industrial park (the Liepaja Industrial Park of the area of 120+ hectares).

“Registration of the auction participants will take place from 3 March 2025 (08.00 a.m.) to 13 June, 2025 (16.30 p.m.). The participants of the auction are required to submit their offers in person or by an authorized person to the Liepaja SEZ Authority at 4 Feniksa Street, Liepaja by the deadline for application as specified in the notice of the auction (during the Authority’s office hours from 8.00 to 12.00 and from 12.30 to 16.30) by 13 June 2025. The offers will be opened on 16 June 2025 at 13.00.”

At the working meeting, the Head of “CIS Liepaja” Tor Arne Pedersen announced that, by agreement with the Liepaja City Council and the Liepaja SEZ Authority, the possible location of the planned hydrogen production plant has been changed – further north in the port water area, and that, due to changes in the market and the demand, “CIS Liepaja” has abandoned the development of the green ammonia production project.
