The Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority and Fokker Next Gen N.V. sign a Memorandum of Understanding
19.12.2023.The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by "Fokker Next Gen N.V." the Chief Executive Officer Juriaan Kellermann and the Liepaja SEZ CEO Uldis Hmieļevskis with the intention of setting forth the research in order to build a production plant in the territory of the Liepaja Special Economic Zone, in the immediate vicinity of the Liepaja International Airport, which would provide "Fokker Next Gen N.V." assembly and testing of the new generation hydrogen-powered aircraft. "Fokker Next Gen N.V." also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia and the Riga Technical University.

As to the cargo turnover, interestingly, the largest grain cargo - 53.3 thousand tons - was loaded on board the motor vessel “Al Saad” in October and delivered to Spain.
