LSEZ AS Norplast Piemare – a company, owned by Norwegian Entec Group AS - started its business in Liepaja a couple of years ago as a stevedoring company to export large-sized fiberglass structures produced in Saldus – a town which is situated 100 km from Liepaja.

Challenges, steady operations and development with a view to the future – this is how the Liepaja SEZ CEO Uldis Hmieļevskis describes activities of the Liepaja SEZ Authority in 2024.

On December 10, entrepreneurs working in the Liepaja Special Economic Zone territory gathered for the traditional year-end event to look back on what has been accomplished during the year, share their experiences and discuss cooperation in the coming year.

Partners of the Liepaja Sustainable Industry Hub gathered for the first joint working meeting on December 4, 2024 to agree on specific steps in mutual cooperation, communication, as well as on development of an action plan for the near future, so that Liepaja, Latvia, and the Baltic Sea region gain energy independence and economic development, while ensuring achievement of the EU climate neutrality and sustainability goals.

The Riga Technical University (RTU) is ready to invest its know-how and experience in partnership with the Liepaja City Council and the Liepaja SEZ Authority to strengthen Liepaja's industrial potential and to prepare specialists who are capable of generating innovations, for the development of the city and the entire region. The capacity to cooperate was discussed at the meeting of the RTU Council, which took place on November 28 in Liepaja.

The European Hydrogen Week in Brussels has ended. The Liepaja SEZ CEO Uldis Hmieļevskis participated in the event, to discuss the development projects planned in the Liepaja SEZ territory with cooperation partners, related to the use of renewable resources in hydrogen production and its further use in CO2 processing, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production and, in the future - creation of a hydrogen-powered aircraft production plant. The aforementioned projects taken together will further on be referred to as the Liepaja Sustainable Industry Hub.
