Liepaja will celebrate its 400th anniversary in 2025. In order to give the local community and guests of the city an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the business environment of the City of Liepaja and the Southern Kurzeme region, the event "Made in Liepaja" will be organized from January 31 to February 1.

In the past nine months of the current year, the stevedoring companies of the Port of Liepaja handled 5,2 million tons of various cargoes, which results in a positive balance (+1.12%) as compared with the relevant time period of the last year.

On October 7, the Liepaja City Construction Board commissioned the "Water Filling Terminal at 117 Oskara Kalpaka Street".

On October 4 of this year, more than 40 employees from the Latvian overseas embassies and diplomatic missions visited Liepaja on fact-finding and experience-exchange visit, as their daily duties are aimed at promoting the Latvian business opportunities for businesses abroad – particularly in the countries, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia has designated its economic attaches and representatives, as among other tasks, it is also in charge of promotion of bilateral and multilateral economic relations.

This week, Jānis Lapiņš, Advisor to the Liepaja SEZ CEO on Renewable Energy Issues, participated in the world’s leading wind industry trade fair “WindEnergy Hamburg 2024", which is wholly tailored toward addressing the major issues, facing the international wind energy sector.

By a symbolic public demolition of the entrance pass control point building of the former steel plant "Liepajas Metalurgs", today, on September 23, construction of the Liepaja Industrial Park has been commenced in order to transform the former steel plant into a modern, green industrial park, as formerly initiated and planned by the Liepaja Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Authority.
