29.05.2024.On May 27, 2024, the regular Liepaja Special Economic Zone (Liepaja SEZ) Board meeting was held, where 11 issues of the agenda were considered, four decisions were adopted, and informational reports on the operation of the Liepaja SEZ and planned development projects were also reviewed.

17.05.2024.On May 17, the Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis visited Liepaja on a one-day working visit. Development of the energy sector, industrial manufacturing, well-paid, qualified jobs, investments in cargo transportation and export development, housing and a number of other important economic development issues were discussed with the management of the Liepaja municipality and the Liepaja Special Economic Zone Authority.

16.05.2024.In the four months of 2024, the stevedoring companies of the Port of Liepaja handled 2.54 million tons of various cargoes – very much the same amount as handled in four months last year. The stability of the cargo to a large extent was ensured by the variety of cargo types and transshipment of the cargoes of local origin. Thus, from January to April including, 479 ships were serviced, and the number of self-propelled/non-engine ro-ro units transported by ferry amounted to 31 945.

30.04.2024.April 30, 2024, may be marked as a date when the Liepaja SEZ Authority completed implementation of the project "Rehabilitation Works of the Historically Contaminated Sites at the Karosta Canal in the Port of Liepaja”, which was financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 programme "Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation and Environment" with the aim of reducing the negative impact of the historically polluted sediments of the Karosta Canal on the environment, human health and the ecological state of the Baltic Sea. In order to ensure the achievement of the project goals, during the implementation of the project, the Liepaja SEZ Authority cooperated with the project partners - the Norwegian Water Research Institute and the association "Baltijas krasti". The experience of the partners was essential to achieve the project objectives.
