April 30, 2024, may be marked as a date when the Liepaja SEZ Authority completed implementation of the project "Rehabilitation Works of the Historically Contaminated Sites at the Karosta Canal in the Port of Liepaja”, which was financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 programme "Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation and Environment" with the aim of reducing the negative impact of the historically polluted sediments of the Karosta Canal on the environment, human health and the ecological state of the Baltic Sea. In order to ensure the achievement of the project goals, during the implementation of the project, the Liepaja SEZ Authority cooperated with the project partners - the Norwegian Water Research Institute and the association "Baltijas krasti". The experience of the partners was essential to achieve the project objectives.
