Purpose of the project:
modernization of the morally and physically obsolete alarm system and reconstruction of railway track aimed at improvement of security and increase of the freight flow capacity in the Port of Liepaja
Reconstruction project of Liepaja railway station is an important link that ensures cargo delivery to the Port of Liepaja. Within the project "Liepaja railway station alarm system modernization and the railway track reconstruction", reconstruction and modernization of Liepaja railway station was performed by changing configuration of the station, by modernizing the alarm system including electricity and telecommunications systems and reconstruction of both station railway track and station premises.
In general railway track reconstruction or initial construction with the total length of 3800 m was performed, 123 traffic lights were put up, 18 new and six rearranged switches were put up; unguarded adjustable and guarded crossings were equipped with new alarm systems, electric heating systems of the railway point electric drive were put up and other works performed.
General partnership “Thales – Fima – Transceltnieks” carried out construction work.
