In April, cargo turnover in the port of Liepaja was stable

In April 2018, companies in the Port of Liepaja handled 611 126.71 tons of different cargoes. Dry bulk cargoes still remain the biggest group, which in April accounted for 73.3% of all cargo or 447.9 thous. tons. The turnover of general cargo was 135.5 thous. tons, but the amount of liquid cargoes was 27.8 thous. tons. The number of vessels served - 128, but the number of passengers – 3417.
Also in April, the dry bulk cargo segment was dominated by grain and agricultural products, handling 214.1 thous. tons. The second biggest group of cargoes was anthracite, followed by building materials and wood chips.
Ro-Ro cargo predominated in the general cargo group, and in April it reached 68.7 thous. tons or 3542 units. The volume of cargo handled 46.8 thous. tons, but relatively small turnover of non-ferrous metals and their products, as well as machinery and equipment, and cargo transported in containers.
In April, liquid cargo segment the biggest cargo group was oil and crude oil products.
In April 2018, biggest cargo turnover had SIA LSEZ "Ekers Stividors LP" - 241 431.35 tons and LSEZ "Liepaja Bulk terminal" - 160 495.36 tons. According to the management of both companies, the work at the port terminals does not stop for a while, and there is a search and reload of ever new cargoes and their types, but managed to keep agricultural goods in the amount of the previous year.
In April, LSEZ Ltd. "Terrabalt" handled 97 706.95 tons and has been working with stable cargo flow, which is provided by the regular ferry line traffic in the route Liepaja –Travemunde (Germany).
In four months, companies in the Port of Liepaja have handled 2 609 253.9 tons.
